About Me | Home

My name is Derek Lennon.

In December 2004, I graduated with honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder. With a major in creative advertising and a minor in business administration on my resume; I set off to conquer the world.

I quickly got sidetracked. After 6 epic seasons skiing 200 plus days a year in both North and South America, I found happiness.

After travelling the world a bit, I sat down to try to put my college major to use. In 2007, I completed an American Writer's & Artist Institute copywriting course and knew that writing was the thing for me. I also began writing children's stories and am currently working with the Institute of Children's Literature. In January of 2008, I began a Master's Program in Professional Writing at Chatham University, where I am learning technical, business, science, newspaper, magazine, and digital media writing.

When I get a chance, I enjoy traveling, SCUBA Diving, backpacking, skiing, photography, and living in other countries. I have traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, Central and South America, South Pacific, and North America, including 49 of 50 states. I look forward to see a lot more of the world. I've already sent my passport back for additional pages twice.

I have worked as a SCUBA divemaster in Thailand, a ski instructor in Portillo, Chile, and as a ski guide at Ski Arpa, Chile. I create custom, handmade, knit hats for AimHats.com. I am now splitting my time between British Columbia, Colorado, and Chile. Between skiing, making hats, and writing I've found the niches that make me happy. And to me, happiness is the most important thing in the world.

I have a genius dog named River.

Life is good.
